One thing we hope changes in the “new” BMX world next year is the SCHEDULING! What a horrendous month of June it was for travel, rest and recovery, and scheduling. Outside of team competition our program conducted two different training seminars in the month of June: One was a 2- day summer camp in Bethel, Connecticut, on June 28th and 29th where London Wilmot and Austin Loebe provided a superb learning environment to the class at Bethel Supercross BMX. Then on Thursday June 23rd Max Egdorf, Shawn DiPrete, Austin Loebe, CJ Fisher and Rochelle Wooding put on a rain shortened Pre-national clinic in Forestdale, MA at Cape Cod BMX.
Racing-wise our month started out in Hampton, Virginia at the ABA Old Dominion National, where a lack of proper scheduling and organizing led to a poor team scoring weekend. Cam Moore (Jr Devo & 13x), Max Egdorf (19-27x), Nicole Mitchell (9 g) all handled their business well on the track with 6 main event wins between the three of them. Nate Coyman (8x & cru) made the trip to the Chesapeake Bay region and pulled in two 2nd place cruiser finishes. Lance McGuire dominated the 28-35 expert class both but remains ineligible for team racing till mid-July.
Rockford was the following weekend, and as always it provided to be the biggest showdown east of the Mississippi. Team-wise we were prepared with Shawn DiPrete (36-40 X & cru), Max Egdorf (19-27x), Austin Loebe (Jr Men & 17-18x), Nate Coyman (8 cru and X), Alex Anthony (Elite Men), Will Murray (Vet Pro), Elida Beeman (13 girls & Cru), Erik Meyer (12x & Open), and Gavin Freewalt (8x & Open) all in attendance. Rennen/Intense had a lockdown on the 8-year old age group as Nate and Gavin teamed up to win five out of the six 8-year old main events (X, Open & Cru). Every season teams go through a tough decision making process in rider selection and obviously not everyone can be chosen for a team. But at the Rock this season we saw how on point our rider selection was, as we witnessed one of the most classless takeout moves in the female’s mains on day 2 by a rider we chose not to select. Overall it was a tough weekend for the squad, but we did manage to pull one usable year-end score in the melee.
Our third weekend of racing in June brought us to Cape Cod, Massachusetts where Shawn DiPrete (36-40x & cru), CJ Fisher (16x & cru), Austin Loebe (17-18x), Max Egdorf (19-27x), Nate Coyman (8x & cru), Lance McGuire (28-35x), Cam Moore (13x) and Rochelle Wooding (15 g) all rode outstanding to take home two team wins for the weekend.
After the smoke cleared, Rennen/Intense had soared up the Factory Team overall leader board to 2nd place behind a tough and classy Redman team as the month of June ended.
Next up for the squad is a trip to Sin City, followed up by a team effort in Burlington, NC.
