Despite dominating leading unto the main event, with a win in the Time Trail, and a handful of first place finishes in the motos, Joris said his final win was not straightforward.

“It wasn’t easy at all. I had a decent start but it definitely wasn’t my best,” said the 24-year-old, who went under 34 seconds for all six of his races at Baku 2015. “I was able to have a strong sprint heading into the first turn, and was able to pass Twan and from there on, focus on a perfect lap.”
