The 5th and final round of the 2014 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Chula Vista kicked off with the Time Trials Super finals. Under bright blue skies and sunny conditions, Connor Fields put in the fastest lap on the Chula track, that has the biggest jumps on the UCI BMX World Cup tour and was a challenge for everyone who had ridden it.
Joris Daudet had the 11th quickest time, Renato Rezende had the 4th,and Anthony Dean in 14th. 4 out of the top 14 were on Chase Frames in the Elite Mens Super Final.
In the Elite Women’s Class, Stefany Hernandez finished up 5th and Melina McLeod was 8th, overall.
Fields was pumped on the win of the Super Final in front of his friends, family and home country crowd. “The key to Time Trials is minimizing mistakes and on a big and gnarly track like this one it’s about who handles it the best way. It’s definitely a whole different ballgame compared to some of the other tracks we race”. He continued: “It’s about mental preparation and minimizing mistakes.” Connor did just that, with the fastest lap of the day.
